Vision:
Bridging the gap between isolated adults by building the spaces and social framework where shared hobbies create lasting connections.
Mission:
To combat adult social isolation and promote mental well-being by providing actively facilitated, accessible, and educational play environments. Through structured group organization, guided instruction, and provided materials, The Friendship Framework uses the friendly competition and collaborative problem-solving inherent to games to connect adults to their community and forge lasting friendships with one another.
The Friendship Framework is a grassroots community initiative based in South Florida, currently in the process of filing for official 501(c)(3) nonprofit status.
Right now, we are entirely community-funded and volunteer-driven. We are fueled by local passion and the belief that play brings people together. Whether you are a lifelong gamer willing to teach your favorite ruleset, or someone who hasn't gamed since childhood and just wants a fun night out, there is a seat waiting for you at our table.
We are currently living through a public health crisis of loneliness. Historically, communities thrived on "third places"—spaces outside of home (the first place) and work (the second place) where people could gather, connect, and just exist together.
Today, true third places are increasingly rare. The public spaces that do remain often lack the social architecture needed to naturally interact with strangers, leaving people feeling isolated even in a crowded room. It has never been harder to meet new people in a genuinely welcoming, low-pressure environment.
We believe the modern board game is the ultimate tool for breaking the ice.
Sitting down to talk with strangers can be incredibly intimidating. Tabletop and other games remove that social anxiety by providing a shared objective, a clear set of rules, and a natural focus for the conversation.
Unlike a retail game store, we do not expect you to bring your own group. By partnering with welcoming community spaces, we host initiatives like our Your Turn: Grown-Up Board Game Social event where we provide the library of games, secure the venue, and utilize structured group organization to ensure everyone is matched to a table that fits their experience level. We provide the rules teachers and the space; you just provide your time and presence.
Attend an Event: Check our Events page and RSVP for the next Friendship Framework Event.
Bring and Teach a Game: If you love teaching games and want to help newcomers feel welcome, bring a title from your personal collection to our next event and run a table.
Join the Roster: While our initial launch focuses on highly accessible board games, we are actively building rosters for future TTRPG (like D&D), TCG (like Magic: The Gathering), and Wargaming events. Fill out our general RSVP form to let us know what you play, so we can build a group for you.
